Jackson KellyThe
Jackson Kelly is a part of the electric guitar family and is manufactured by Jackson Guitars. This type of guitar is widely used in heavy metal and hard rock bands. Its sleek and stylish body shape makes it very easy to recognize although it is often said to slightly resemble a
Gibson Explorer. Unlike their other
best guitars, the Jackson Kelly features a longer neck, which makes it easier to play than most models and has a thin neck back shape.
The body shape of a Jackson Kelly guitar is described as angular and a double cutaway. The most commonly used type of wood for the body is poplar although you can find other models made of alder. The neck joint is a bolt-on for some models while others feature a neck-through body. The neck of a Jackson Kelly guitar is typically made of rock maple but can also be found in maple. Rosewood and ebony are common wood types used for the fretboard. This type of guitar also features a handful of different pickups.
There were a variety of Jackson Kelly models created but many of them ended up being discontinued. The following models have been discontinued and so far have not been reissued: Kelly Std, Kelly XL, Kelly Pro, KE1F and the KE2T.
Jackson Kelly models that are currently in production are the KE2, KE3, KE5FR, JS30KE and the KBX. The KE2 in particular is considered the best quality of the Jackson guitars. This Jackson Kelly model features a body made of alder wood, 24 jumbo frets, two humbucker pickups and a neck-through body.
